Kara Gold, ANP-BC

Executive Director
Kara Gold, an ANCC Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP-BC), has a long history of working with Jewish HomeLife. Intermittently over the past 15+ years, she has cared for the residents at The William Breman Jewish Home, first as part of United Health Care, and then directly for the past JHLC Medical Director. She also previously worked for Weinstein Hospice, as well as other primary care practices providing care in Skilled Nursing Homes.
Kara has spent all of her professional career caring for the Geriatric population. Her expertise with long-term care, acute and chronic conditions, psychiatric management, and facilitating smooth transitions in care will be an invaluable asset to our residents and families.
Kara has a Master of Science in Nursing from Emory University. While in graduate school, she also obtained a minor in teaching, business and wound care certification. She currently works under the supervision of Dr. Irshad Syed, the Medical Director of Weinstein Hospice.
Kara’s outside interests include volunteering as PTSA President for over 14 years and watching her children play sports.

Aliza Afrah, FNP-BC
Nurse Practitioner
Aliza Afrah is an AANP Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Aliza’s passion for working with geriatric patients began as a young child when she would frequently volunteer at rehabilitation and nursing home facilities. In addition to her considerable clinical experience, Aliza has an outstanding academic background which includes two bachelor’s degrees (a BS in Sociology and a BSN in Nursing) as well as a Master of Science in Nursing. Aliza believes that health care professionals should be strong advocates for their patients and that quality, compassionate, comprehensive care is essential as a medical provider. Aliza currently enjoys serving the residents at Berman Commons and The Cohen Home. She works under the supervision of Dr. Elliott Jackson, Medical Director of The William Breman Jewish Home.
At home, Aliza can often be found with a good book and spending time with her husband and children. Aliza, along with her family, volunteer at her synagogue and look forward to opportunities to help others

Nikkita Kimes-Colvin, LPN

Nikkita Kimes-Colvin, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), enjoys caring for people of all ages. Geriatrics is very special to her because she believes that it is her calling to help care for individuals that have become dependent on others. Nikkita has experience working in Geriatrics, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Allergy, Pain, Neurology, and Internal Medicine. Nikkita has a certificate in nursing from College of the Mainland in Texas. She currently serves the residents at Berman Commons and The Cohen Home.
When at home, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends
